It starts with love

The other day, I went to a church. It was a night of prayer, and very nice lady who was the host was speaking. She proceeds to talk about how we cannot trust people, but only God. That the same people we can call our best friends, or even our parents, husband/wife, anyone can betray us. Only God won’t and will never.

Been there, done that! Trust issues, I know them.

But it just didn’t feel right in my spirit. As she was speaking, I was truly and deeply bothered. I understood where she was going, but it still wasn’t sitting right with me.

In my head, I was imagining all types of scenarios where all my friends were betraying me, and I was almost crying. But I decided to refuse that word.

The next morning, my head was still running a lot. So, I prayed about it and asked God for revelation.

We have to lead with love. That was His answer.

Dieu est un dieu d’amour. Dieu est amour. Et une chose que la Bible nous dit par rapport à l’amour est que l’amour ne soupçonne point le mal.

I believe that if a relationship is founded in Christ and in the love of God, you should have faith that God placed this person in your life. And that you can love and trust that person. That this person is someone who’s dependable, who will lift you up and build you up, someone who will encourage you and push you to be more Christ-like and bold. Someone with whom your secrets, your pains, your joys, your tears, and your laughs are safe.

When the Bible says to not put our trust in man it is not the same as trusting a man, in a way where we share of ourselves with that person. To trust in a man means to surrender yourself to a man, which we should not do. One cannot surrender to another mere human who’s barely solid for his own. And here you’re making a man a mini god for yourself and turning your heart away from the Lord.

But when you trust in the Lord, you can trust His timing, His ways, His plans, and His children…

Do you have enough faith to believe that the person in front of you wants to love you like Christ? That because they love God, they want to be patient, kind and gentle with you, that they want to bring you love, joy and peace.

We’ve been called to love one another, to love our neighbour as ourselves. It all starts with love, isn’t it? How can you trust someone if you don’t even love them.

Love is such a powerful establishment. The very reason why we’re all still here today and why God would sacrifice his one and only Son, and the very reason why the devil hates us so much. It is so powerful that it is the principal thing the devil uses to destroy people. Having us hurting and hating on each other.

Society is filled with people walking around depressed, hurt, betrayed, humiliated, manipulated, people ready to end it all. Because of what? A lack of love. People are terrified to take a chance at love. And mostly, people don’t know how to love anymore.

Nowadays, people are so quick to cut off others for a mistake. Where is your mercy and your grace? Do you think you didn’t hurt that person for being a mere human. What if God would cut us off because we sneezed the wrong way? We need to learn what love is again and to let God teach us how to trust.

This is why the Bible says that above all things to guard our heart, because from it flow the springs of life. There is nothing in this world you can do without love. But you should have God guiding you through it. Do not let the schemes of the enemy take that away from you. If you’ve been hurt, forgive. Do not let it harden your heart. Have enough faith to love and trust those He placed around you.

Go be blessed!
